Spanish 1
In Spanish 1 students learn how to express who they are and where they are. They also learn to ask questions about others and share about themselves, such as: greetings and farewells, age, how they are feeling, what their interests and hobbies are, and what their school day is like. Throughout all of these topics, students learn about various culture topics and what it means to learn another language.
Spanish 2
In Spanish 2 students learn how to describe and compare events and ideas in more detail. Various methods are used, including reading short novels to expand on the learning of the language and culture. Students learn how to express ideas and events that occurred in the past and use this knowledge to share about impactful events and people from their lives. Students also learn about various musicians, actors, politicians, and athletes from Spanish-speaking countries that have been influential in history.
Spanish 3
In Spanish 3 students continue to work on expressing ideas and events in the past, writing personal stories. In this class, students learn how to use the subjunctive and express ideas and hopes for the future. Through the reading of various short novels, students continue to learn about the culture and the language.
Spanish 4
In Spanish 4 students review what they have learned in the past. Students review and expand on their knowledge of various forms of past, present, and future tenses, as well as add to their vocabulary and fluency of the Spanish language. Students read several short stories and novels, as well as watch documentaries and movies to enrich discussion of several cultural topics.
