Skonewood Retreat

The annual Skonewood Retreat is an important part of the community of Calvin Christian High School, a tradition that continues to be a favorite for students and staff alike.  Every September after much anticipation, the entire school travels to the Skonewood Christian Retreat in Cushing, Wisconsin as a way to conclude our orientation and to mark the beginning of a new school year.  This retreat creates time and space to foster stronger relationships and further community.

During this overnight retreat, students participate in a number of different activities –from worldview sessions to nature hikes, and from Advisory Olympics to film studies.  In addition, the students actively worship the Lord in a number of different settings – from personal time for prayer to chapel led by fellow students.

Through the highly anticipated (and certainly competitive) Advisory Olympics, the free time to play around, or in the lake, through meals together or late night conversations, relationships flourish and students discover who they are communally and individually.

Each year, the retreat is filled with many laughs, valuable conversations, and great memories; most importantly, a close-knit, caring community is sparked,
a community that lasts not only for the school year, but for years to come.
