Academics

At Calvin Christian High School we seek to offer an excellent academic program that integrates a biblical worldview into all subject areas. Listed below you will find information on each subject area as well as a link to the instructor's webpage. We are finalizing our CCHS Curriculum Handbook, and we will upload that once it is completed.

Bible

The Bible may be the most influential book in the history of humanity. Western civilization, arts, and literature have all been deeply shaped by the Bible. As Christians we confess that the Bible is the Word of God; therefore, at CCHS the Bible is a vital part of our community and curriculum. Because we want to submit all our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, special attention is paid to the worldview that arises from the scriptural drama of Creation, Fall, Redemption and Consummation.

Social Studies

At CCHS we strive to prepare our students to insert themselves in God's world and bring shalom as God intends it. In Social Studies we investigate the development of the human community by studying geography, history, economics, politics, and anthropology. In our exploration we discover the brokenness of many ideologies and institutions and consider biblical alternatives to cultural, institutional, and national development.

Language Arts

In language arts we aim to place the wonder and power of language squarely before us and link the use of language to the making or breaking of connections or relationships--with ourselves, other human beings, our Creator, and the rest of creation.

CCHS seeks to integrate the study of language arts into all areas of the curriculum. In addition, language arts classes are part of our weekly schedule and focus on language usage skills and process writing workshop.

At each grade level, students write research papers (using both MLA and APA documentation) and dialogue with both teachers and fellow students in reflective journals.

Math

The mathematics program at CCHS uses an integrated approach. Through investigations of real-life contexts, students develop a rich understanding of important mathematics coupled with the ability to apply this knowledge to new situations and problems. The program advances students' understanding along interwoven strands of algebra and functions, statistics and probability, geometry and trigonometry, and discrete mathematics. It prepares students to use mathematics rather than just to do mathematics. The curriculum makes more mathematics accessible to more students, while also challenging the most able students.

Science

The science program at CCHS seeks to not only promote an attitude of wonderment as we explore God's creation, but also evaluate how humanity, both historically and presently, responds to the cultural mandate, so that we can continually evaluate what it means to live out our calling to a life of Christian stewardship.
