Calvin Christian High School was conceived in the dreams of founders when Calvin Christian School was established in Edina in 1961. More recently, an additional feeder for a high school was one argument for establishing Calvin’s second K-8 campus, which opened in Blaine in 1992. Today Calvin’s K-8 programs enroll about 500 students.
After more than ten years of planning, Calvin Christian launched its high school program in the fall of 2004, offering a freshman program. CCHS spent its first four years as the tenant of Olivet Baptist Church in Crystal, adding a grade each year and graduating its first seniors in the spring of 2008.
Strategic planning in 2006-07 had projected greater potential for growth in the north metro, so, in the summer of 2008-09, Calvin Christian High School moved to its current home at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Fridley.
