The plans for our environmental learning and team building trip are nearly complete. CCS Edina 6-7th grade students will travel to the Luther Crest Environmental Learning Center near Alexandria Minnesota. We have spent considerable time planning a meaningful experience. Please familiarize yourself with the contents of this manual, so together we can ensure a positive experience for all concerned.
The students will be accompanied and supervised by CCS staff members: Mr. Scott Ross, Amy Teunissen , and Mrs. Susan Koppendrayer. Parent volunteers Tim Brands, Jim Hay, Linda Haugen will also come along.
We will leave from the Edina campus on CCS buses after the beginning of the regular school day on Monday September 24. We will arrive back at the Edina campus by the end of the school day on Wednesday September 26. If the weather is good, students should leave their luggage on the grass near the Kindergarten windows so it can be packed on the bus. Students should go to homeroom after they drop off their luggage. They should take to homeroom anything they want with them on the bus. They won’t be able to get to their luggage during the trip. We could use a few parents to help pack on Monday morning.
6th graders will participate in the environmental learning program. Environmental learning has been a part of the CCS curriculum for over 20 years. We believe that students should see themselves as stewards of God’s creation. As such, they need to learn how they can treat creation in a way that will preserve our valuable resources and not only pass those resources on to future generations, but also help them train that generation to be godly stewards of creation.
7th graders will participate in the team building challenge program On Common Ground. They will be using the new challenge and ropes courses.
We are looking forward to a great trip!
