Along with Calvin Christian School participating in the Silver Burdett Making Music curriculum, your child is a student in the Carole Series of Music Learning. Listed below is information that explains the Carole Series. This curriculum will be provided for 1st – 5th grade.
The Course Has Two Parts:
1. Group Time with Mrs. DeVries
A time where the concepts of the learning level are taught through games, charts, scripture songs, etc. This will be accomplished during their normal music classes.
2. Student Pages with a CD
Each child will receive student pages to complete and then will also have the option to receive a take-home CD of the given music learning level. It is important that the child operate the CD player. Many times sections should be played again and again. Your help may be needed.
Other Information:
1. Certificates
A certificate will come home when a level has been successfully completed. Remember there are two portions as listed above. Sometimes your child will finish the student pages portion before the group time has completed the required material. This would be a good time for the child to review the material.
2. Progress Rate
It is very important not to go too fast since each level assumes the preceding ones have been mastered. If your child is in the lower elementary grades, it is possible to complete Levels 1, 2 and 3 during one school year. After that, it is possible to master two levels per semester or school year.
3. CDs
CDs are provided on a library basis and will be given out only at the request of both student and parent. There will be no cost to the student. CD A has Levels 1, 2 and 3 on it, and each succeeding tape has two levels.
My hope is that the Carole Series will provide an enjoyable learning experience for your child. This is only part of the ultimate goal – which is to help your child become a lifelong worship participant.
