News From Mrs. Pickard's Class
6th Bible- We will study the reign of King David and his son Solomon for the remainder of the year. Some key ideas we focus on include God working through sinful people, David's lack of discipline caused downfalls in his kingdom, and God's covenant to David fulfilled through Christ.
7th Bible- We are beginning the last unit of the year, the intertestament period. The students will learn how historical and cultural movements made the timing just right for the Messiah to enter the world.
8th Bible- The 8th graders are ending the year with two faith lessons from the Ray Vander Laan series about the early church. We will look at the city of Pergamum and Ephesus and how Christians were eqquipped to dispel beliefs in the pagan gods. Before the Chicago trip, the 8th graders will take their final (the test covering all the material we have studied this year)! After the final, we will spend time writing our personal testimonies and giving them to the class.
6th Literature- The 6th graders are studying 3 short shories and we will work with plot diagramming to help us understand them. Our book reports are due May 24th on general non-fiction!
