Investing Together in Our
Childrens Christian Education
Calvin Christian School takes a unique approach to tuition. We call it the Fair Share Plan and it makes a quality Christian education available to nearly every family that sincerely desires it.
Fair Share Giving at CCS
How It Works
Instead of a set tuition, each family makes an annual contribution to the school based on their income. Using a sliding scale called the Fair Share Giving Guide [below], every Calvin School family makes a pledge and contributes an amount reflecting what they believe God would have them give, in accordance with how God has blessed them.
This biblical approach stresses the importance of faith in God and love for one another in making a commitment to Calvin Christian School. The generous pledges of many CCS families make it possible for others to attend who otherwise could not afford a Christian education for their children.
Our Philosophy of Fair Share Giving
- God is the owner of all things, and we are his stewards. (Acts 4:32) Therefore, as you consider your pledge amount, do not regard what you have as your own, but as belonging to God.
- God provides us abundance so that we might be rich towards others (2 Cor. 9:11). The Fair Share Pledge allows you to be generous to others.
- God prefers equality (2 Cor. 8:13-14). The Fair Share Pledge helps achieve that within the Calvin Christian community.
- Calvin is a genuine community of believers with real responsibilities to each other (Gal. 6:2). The Fair Share Pledge is one way to meet those responsibilities.
- Christian education is so important that, as much as possible, it should be available to all Christian families (Prov. 9:10). The Fair Share Pledge helps make Christian education more available to more families.
- A Fair Share Pledge helps every family to honor God through their faith goal (Heb. 11:6). Do not be afraid to trust God.
- Fair Share giving increases school ownership (Matthew 6:21). You are not purchasing an education, but investing in the school and its mission.
- Fair Share giving provides a practical opportunity to love one another (1 John 3:17-18). Love one another in word and in deed.
Fair Share Giving Guide
- Depending on the amount, a pledge may include two components:
- Cost Pledge This is the amount families contribute toward the cost of operating Calvin Christian School. The approximate cost of operation per student for 2007-08 is $4,300 for kindergarten, $6,100 for grades 1-8, and $6,500 for high school. These amounts are in the highlighted row in the guide.
- Support Pledge Pledges above the operational cost level strengthen the educational program of Calvin Christian and help provide Christian education for students who might not otherwise be able to attend. We ask families to make the most generous pledge they can, so that we may maintain our high-quality program and share the blessings of Christian education.
- Because having more than one child at Calvin Christian may be a financial burden, families may apply a reduction appropriate to their situationfrom up to 35 percent off for a second child, to up to 75 percent off for a fourth and additional children.
- The Fair Share Pledge does not include mandatory feesa $500 per family building/debt fee, and instructional materials/activities fees totaling $155-185 for elementary and middle school and $500 for high school (includes cost of high school students laptop computers).
- Families may apply for financial aid if they are unable to make the minimum suggested pledge.
